The Collector's primary responsibilities include: managing checking and loan account debt charge-off & collection (including: managing any legal actions taken to protect the bank's interest; i.e. claims, judgments, attachments, repossessions, foreclosures, etc.); ensuring Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act compliance, producing management reporting as needed, and processing legal remedies (including bankruptcy notices, subpoenas, garnishments, and levies). Responsible for applying superior decision-making techniques and customer service skills to deal with internal and external bank customers to find resolution for account issues

The Successful Candidate will:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required and, 1 to 2 years collections experience and/or training. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to read and interpret operation and procedure manuals, effectively present information over the phone, build rapport with both external and internal customers, carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, and have good problem solving skills.

Prefer basic knowledge of bank policies and procedures and the capacity to learn all bank products, processes and services. Computer experience required and working knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and the Internet. Candidates will have strong customer service orientation; be highly productive, adaptable, flexible, and reliable with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Grasps new information and procedures and has ability to take appropriate action based on new knowledge. Can type 45 words per minutes with 95% accuracy, basic 10-Key skills and the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
