A homegrown part of the community since 1920
Home Federal Bank was established in 1920 in Nampa, Idaho. Nampa was experiencing a serious housing shortage and its citizens were seeking funding for new home construction. Home Federal Bank was founded to help residents build their homes. Since then, we have been helping families, businesses and communities grow and thrive. As the largest and oldest bank headquartered in Idaho’s Treasure Valley, our strategic vision to expand our geographical footprint into markets with similar demographic traits has enabled us to continue to succeed and prosper as a regional banking entity.
In 2004, we converted from a federal mutual savings and loan association to a federally-chartered stock savings bank and formed a holding company, Home Federal Bancorp, Inc. Under this arrangement, the Bank was recapitalized from the sale of 40% of the holding company to the public. That decision brought an influx of capital which allowed us to create new products and business lines like the emergence of commercial and small business banking.
In 2007, the Board of Directors and shareholders approved a plan to convert Home Federal Bancorp, Inc. to a full stock holding company. This move brought in additional capital to create the strong balance sheet we enjoy today. Home Federal Bancorp, Inc. trades on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol HOME and is a part of the Russell 2000 Index.
Continuing to Grow
In 2009 and 2010, the Bank expanded its geographical footprint into Oregon. The FDIC and Oregon regulators sold us the assets of Community First Bank of Prineville, Oregon, and LibertyBank of Eugene, Oregon. As a result, HomeFed now offers the convenience of full-service branches in Southwest Idaho as well as in Central, Southern and Western Oregon.
